Wheel Bearing Retainer

Wheel bearings allow the wheels on your vehicle to spin freely and without binding. If you notice howling or grinding from your vehicle that increases with speed, you likely need to replace your wheel bearing. Many wheel bearings have a press-fit design, and once pressed into place, require a wheel bearing retainer ring, also known as a snap ring or circlip, to keep them seated. If you notice premature wheel bearing failure or the wheel bearing moving or "walking" side to side, check to make sure the wheel bearing retainer is still in place.
