Single Lead Spark Plug/Coil Wire

Older ignition systems are powered by distributors or coil packs which generate power that is sent through spark plug wires to the spark plugs. Though replacing your spark plugs and wires are part of a complete tune-up, sometimes a single wire may fail. A failing wire could cause complete lack of ignition or a cylinder misfire. If your vehicle starts but runs rough or misfires, testing spark plug wires to determine the cause of a misfire or dead cylinder should be your first step.
