Locking Hubs

Locking hubs, also known as freewheeling hubs, let the front wheels of your four-wheel drive vehicle rotate freely when disconnected from the front axle. This reduces mechanical resistance and improves fuel efficiency. Locking hubs also result in less wear and tear on the front axle. If your vehicle had locking hubs from the factory and you aren't able to lock or unlock the hubs, they may need to be replaced. If the hubs won’t unlock, you may notice your vehicle pulling with the front end and skipping when turning.
