Your air conditioning compressor is responsible for creating pressure in your A/C system that cools the refrigerant to produce cold air. Refrigerant oil keeps your air conditioning compressor lubricated and cool. If your A/C system isn't blowing cold air, it may have a refrigerant leak, which may have also depleted the oil in the system. Compressors that are low on oil may squeak loudly when the A/C is turned on, or may not run at all. Many A/C compressors have a sensor that detects refrigerant levels, and if it falls too low, the compressor will not activate. If you are replacing a compressor or other A/C components, make sure and add the right amount and type of refrigerant oil.
