Water Pump Housing

A water pump keeps coolant moving through the engine and maintains an optimum operating temperature. It's powered by the serpentine belt from the crankshaft pulley. Using impeller blades and centrifugal force, the water pump sends the coolant throughout the engine to the radiator, where the coolant is cooled over the radiator fins. Once the coolant has cooled, it goes back to the water pump so the cooling process starts again. One of the biggest signs of a cooling system problem is your engine overheating. Other cooling system related problems may include coolant leaking at the front-center of your vehicle, rust or corrosion, a high pitched noise from the front of the motor, or steam coming from your radiator.
